This scam is really making the rounds in the legal community.
Dear Counsel,
My name is Elizabeth Nakamura. I am writing your firm in regards to enforcement/collection of divorce settlement or possible litigation with my ex husband Collins Nakamura who resides in your jurisdiction. If you are in the position to represent me at the moment kindly advice immediately.
Your’s truly,
Elizabeth Nakamura
We received that e-mail here as well (in MA), with attached “divorce documents” that were supposedly from Korea but were in English.
Odd!
I received it as well (in CT).
I received it as well (in TN)
Thanks for publishing this. I received the e-mail (in NV), and suspected that it was a scam. It’s so helpful to be able to verify my suspicions by seeing that others received it, too.
Thank you for publishing this. I received this in SE Georgia. I was immediately suspicious in that the records were all in English as well.
I received the same thing in Austin Texas on 5/12 with divorce decree documents attached.. Smelled like a rat and…………
I received this as well last week and she sent the “divorce documents” yesterday – 5/15/11 – with a Japanse passport photo id. I was suspicious because the date of the divorce decree (1/25/10) pre-dates the collaborative agreement specified date (2/2/10) and I don’t know a judge in any country that would do that – incorporate and after-the-fact agreement. Plus the collaborative agreement says 2/2/10 but isn’t dated by the parties until 8/3/10. The devil is always in the details!
received in Ohio and then got a check for $269,000! turned over to PD
I got this one too south of Atlanta, GA
I got the same thing in North Carolina and then a presumably bogus check for $495,500.
