Grand jury indicts more than 80 people

The Hunt County grand jury returned an unprecedented number of indictments Friday, alleging incidents of armed robbery, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.

A Greenville man, convicted and sentenced to prison this week for one aggravated robbery, is among the individuals indicted Friday on a charge of aggravated kidnapping in connection with another case.

Another local man, currently on probation involving a strong-arm robbery at a Greenville mall, has been indicted for aggravated robbery for an alleged armed hold-up in 2006.

Two men were indicted on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping charges involving the reported armed hold-up of a Hunt County game room in December.

In all, the grand jury returned 59 indictments which were made public Friday and another 24 indictments issued sealed pending the arrest and arraignment of the person or persons named in the charges. The grand jury also issued 14 “no bills”, indicating it had completed its investigation into a particular incident and had determined there was insufficient evidence to proceed with issuing any indictments.

— Jason Eugene Stevenson, 19; Derrick Obryan Jackson, 19; Gregory Wayne Anderson Jr., 18; and Devin MacKenzie Allen, 18; all of Greenville, were indicted on one count each of aggravated kidnapping. The four were alleged in the indictments of abducting a female victim on Oct. 2, 2008, with Allen using a handgun during the offense.

Stevenson was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison on a charge of aggravated robbery involving an alleged home invasion in October of last year.

— Michael Ray Bell, 23, Greenville; and Jackie Lawrence Scott, 23; South Fredricksburg, Texas, were each indicted one counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon. Bell and Scott were two of the three people who were alleged to have held an employee of the Peach Tree Game Room eight-liner parlor on State Highway 34, just south of Greenville, at gunpoint and to have strapped him down with duct tape in the bathroom of the business at around 1:30 a.m. Dec. 19, 2008.

Scott was also indicted on one count of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Scott was alleged in the indictment to have hit a female victim with a rear-view mirror on Aug. 29, 2007.

— Chadrick Oneal Robinson, 21, Greenville, was indicted on one count of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Robinson was alleged in the indictment to have acted alongside two other people in using a pistol to steal a credit card, shoes, shirts and jeans from a male victim on Sept. 5, 2006. Robinson is currently on probation on a charge of robbery. Robinson was the get-away driver during a violent purse-snatching at Crossroads Mall in Greenville on the evening of Feb. 3, 2007.

— Khiry Dwayne Anderson, 18, Greenville, was indicted on one count of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Anderson was alleged to have used a handgun to rob a female victim of her purse on Oct. 17, 2008.

— Jason Zimmerle, 34, West Tawakoni, received an indictment for aggravated assault causing bodily injury/family violence, with previous conviction. Zimmerle was accused of assaulting his wife with a pistol on two occasions in November. The indictment alleges Zimmerle was convicted of assault/family violence in 2005.

— Billy Wright, 26, of Pebblecreek, Ky.; Marrin L. Wright, 23, of Henderson, Ky.; and Corey Dewayne Johnson, 19; of Sturgis, Ky.; each received one indictment for possession of between five and 50 pounds of marijuana with a deadly weapon. The three were alleged to have been transporting the marijuana through Hunt County on Dec. 29, 2008 while using a firearm during the commission of the offense. Johnson, who also goes by three aliases according to the indictment, has two prior convictions for burglary from 2007.

— Brandon Benard Jones, 21, Greenville, received one indictment for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Jones was alleged in the indictment to have acted alongside another person in using a handgun to rob a male victim on Oct. 8, 2008.

— Jack O’Neill Hargrove, 34, Quinlan, received one indictment with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and three indictments for endangering a child. Hargrove was alleged to have used a motor vehicle to cause bodily injury to a female victim on June 23, 2008. Three children under 15 years of age were inside the female victim’s vehicle, which Hargrove was alleged to have rear-ended with his vehicle.

The indictment against Hargrove lists two prior convictions for aggravated robbery, from Hunt County in 1991 and Rockwall County in 1986; as well as previous convictions for burglary, driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.

— Emmett Shane Johnson received an indictment for possession of a firearm by a felon. Johnson was one of two people who allegedly possessed a firearm on Jan. 10, 2009. The indictment against Johnson indicates he had two prior convictions for aggravated robbery, two convictions for burglary, and one conviction each for unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized use of a vehicle and forgery.

A Lamar County grand jury has returned 55 indictments against 54 people, most for crimes that could be related to a weak economy.

Twenty three of the indictments involved theft, burglary, forgery, fraud or debit card or credit card abuse.

Thirteen others were indicted on drug offenses.

The indictments were handed down Thursday.

Those indicted included:

• Ralph Adams, burglary of a habitation;

• Damontre Lamarr Anthony, possession of marijuana, more than four ounces but less than five pounds in a drug free zone;

• James Clayton Ausmus, burglary of a building, repeat offender;

• Albert Ramon Baker, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon;

• Roderick Don Biggers, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, PG 3, more than 28 grams in a drug free zone;

• Jonathan Dias Blackwell, possession of marijuana, more than four ounces but less than five pounds; and felon in possession of a firearm;

• Jason Dale Burnett, burglary of a habitation;

• Raygene Butler, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, five items;

• Chelsey Nicole Cole, debit card abuse;

• Bobby Jack Cook, criminal mischief, $1,500 to $20,000; criminal mischief $20,000 to $100,000;

• Chase Nathan Davidson, possession of a controlled substance, PG 1, less than one gram in a drug free zone; possession of a controlled substance, PG 3, less than 28 grams in a drug free zone;

• Kendrick Davis, possession of marijuana, more than four ounces but less than five pounds in a drug free zone; tampering with physical evidence;
